USMC highlight: Santini Bar

Almost forgot one very special highlight.

We had dinner at the Officer's Club at the MCAS (Marine Corp. Air Station) Beaufort, SC. The bar was re-named the Santini Bar after it appeared in the movie "The Great Santini" with Robert Duvall.

The back room holds the treasure. The back wall has images of three famous anti-Americans on it. One looked like Saddam or may have been an Ayatollah, one looked like a Chinese or korean leader, and the one in the center was OBL.

USMC summary

For those among us that may be interested, I'm back from about a week with some of the best at MCRD (Marine Corp. Recruiting Depot) Parris Island, SC. There are only two places they make marines, this is one of them. I went as a media person with more opportunity to get up close to the marines than anyone in our group.

Whatever the size of your checkbook, you cannot buy this experience.

USMC invitation

You know that we are very military-friendly. I served, and my son just mustered out the Navy after a 5 year hitch. Justin's last duty assignment as a Seabee was with ACB-1 in San Diego supporting our special ops teams.

So yeah, the army and navy are kinda like pals. Well, move over one.

I just returned from the USMC training base at Parris Island, SC. The Eagles have some strong fans there in very high places, and Tampadelphia is known there as well.

Yes, you are part of a nationally known group.

To learn more about this, keep reading the posts.

Chuck

Tampadelphia diehard Chuck is doing well with his recovery. heard from him this week and he's coming around.

Keep your good thoughts and prayers coming, he's one of ours and we do take care of our own.

Keep mending, pal.

Prediction

DE Peppers is available.

Like we did over our recent years with Claude Humphries, William Fuller and Javon Kearse, I predict the Eagles will sign Peppers to balance the rush on the other side of the DL.

We need it. We need to get the opposing QB's ass in the dirt where it belongs.

Whatever we give up won't matter if Peppers can still bring his game.

Now ponder this: Osi was on the outs in NY. Do we dare think big?

Nah. They won't let THAT happen.

Vick? Donovan?

Where is "next" for these guys?

Rumors abound. John Harbaugh is interested in them, depending on who you listen to it may be both of them. Spags in LA, maybe. Modrak in Cleveland, maybe. Chicago, maybe.

Whatever the deal, let's focus on forward. Let's play someone who will continue to keep drives alive and get the ball downfield.

If we end up competing against these two Eagles later next season so be it. let's hope our coaches work some extra hours to tweak an effective game plan for the talents of our QB.

Brian Westbrook, Eagle

Brian will be released, it was announced a week ago.

An Eagles team without the magic of 36 has got to not feel right.

But we understand Brian has some limitations that could do more harm that lasts alot longer then a 20 yard run on a bad knee.

The man gave us his all though. That's why he will always be an Eagle, like Dawk and others.

Brian, best of luck going forward. A tip of the Eagles cap your way.

The end of the season

It's the last day of February. Yeah, it took this long to get the grit out of mouth after the way the season with two losses to "them."

You know how we felt in Tampadelphia . . . same as you did! We had large turnouts just to see us lay down two games.

And we're thinking the same thing as Eagles fans everywhere, so there's no point in repeating it.

Let's just ROCK UP and move on.

Let's hope owner Jeff Lurie ROCKS UP and makes a few demands, ok?

am finally over it

I'm over it. Damn Eagles. Grrr-r-r-r.

It takes days to get over a loss, and while this one felt bad the game that really counts is coming up. Sure, it would have been nice to get a bye, but if you asked me at the start of the season if I'd be happy with 11-5 and being in the playoffs I would have quickly said yes.

So here we are. Saturday night and winner takes all.

The Eagles better show up. I will. Will you?

playoffs! do you want chairs saved for you?

We're in them! And we play the evil team this Saturday at 8 pm.

Right now we're probably going to be in our usual Players Pub with the 15 hi-def screens. But if it seems likely that we get another overflow crowd like we did this past Sunday, then we may move into a private ballroom again, with big screens and private buffet.

So if you are coming by, and want us to hold chairs, please drop me a line (paul@tampadelphia.com) or (tampadelphia@aol.com) and I'll square things with the Doubletree.

This will also help us plan a menu.
